Alexandrov Yurij Vladimirovich

In 1957 he finished mathematic-physics school of Kharkiv A. M. Gorky State University, and in 1961 finished postgraduate school in this University. In 1966 defended his PhD thesis «Results of surface photographic photometry of Jupiter».
From 1967 he worked at the University as assistant professor, associated professor, from 1977 to 2004 - as head of Astronomy Department, from 2004 to March 2015 - as the professor of Astronomy and Space Informatics Department, and from April 2015 to January 2016 – as the professor-consultant of Astronomy and Space Informatics Department. He died January 24, 2016.
He was a Laureate of the Barabashov Prize of Ukrainian Academy of Sciences and he was awarded the Keldysh gold medal, mark of «High achiever of education» and other honor awards of Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine. The International Astronomical Union has named an asteroid with a number 18751 as YuAlexandrov. He was also Member of the International Astronomical Union, Member of the Commission in the Physics of Scientific-methodological Council of the Ministry of Education and Science, Member of the Workgroup to elaborate the Astronomy Standard of the Ministry of Education and Science, Member of the Editorial board of Journal «UNIVERSITATES. Science and Education», and Member of the Council of Association of Friends, Graduates, and teachers of Kharkiv V. N. Karazin National University.
Field of research – Physics of Planetary Atmospheres, Multidimensional Cosmology, History and Methodology of Astronomy, Methods of Astronomical Teaching, Development of Astronavigation Systems of Space Vehicles.
He lectured courses: «History and methodology of astronomy», «Problems of modern astrophysics», «Introduction to cosmonautic», «Astrodynamics».
